Dragon Fruit Cactus
Dragon Fruit Cactus is a fast-growing tropical cactus with long, trailing or climbing stems. Unlike desert cacti, it naturally grows in tropical environments and appreciates more regular watering and humidity. Mature plants can produce huge, fragrant nighttime flowers followed by the colorful dragon fruit it’s famous for!
Botanical Name: Selenicereus spp. (formerly Hylocereus)
Light: Bright light; some direct sun is beneficial
Water: Water thoroughly when the top few inches of soil have dried
Humidity: Average household humidity is fine
Pet Friendly: Generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs
Plant in a chunky, fast-draining cactus mix and provide a sturdy support as it grows. Plenty of light is key for strong growth and the best chance of flowering and fruiting.
