Juniper bonsai like this prefer to stay slightly moist, but not soggy. They’re a little different than tropical houseplants.
Care basics:
Light:
- Full sun outdoors is best
- At least 6+ hours of sun
- Indoors long term usually won’t work well
Water:
- Water thoroughly when the top of the soil starts feeling slightly dry
- Don’t let it stay bone dry for long
- But also don’t keep it constantly soaked
A good rule:
- Stick your finger into the soil about an inch
- If it’s starting to dry, water deeply until water runs out the bottom
Important:
- Tiny bonsai pots dry out FAST outside in summer
- Sometimes they need watering daily in hot weather
- Indoors they’ll dry much slower
