Alocasia ‘Yucatan Princess Variegated’ is a striking tropical plant known for its dramatic dark stems and large arrow-shaped leaves splashed with creamy white, mint, and light green variegation. Each leaf emerges with a unique pattern, making every plant one of a kind. As it matures, this variety develops an impressive, architectural presence that makes it a standout in any collection.
Light: Bright indirect light. Avoid harsh afternoon sun, which can scorch the variegated areas.
Water: Keep soil lightly moist but not soggy. Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry between waterings.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity for best growth.
Temperature: Thrives in warm conditions and should be protected from temperatures below 60°F.
Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix rich in organic matter.
Pet safe: No. Like other Alocasias, it is toxic if ingested by pets or people.
Fun fact: The variegation is caused by a genetic mutation that reduces chlorophyll production in parts of the leaf. Because the white sections cannot photosynthesize, highly variegated plants are often slower growing and more sought after by collectors.
