The Espostoa Cactus is a striking, columnar cactus known for its long, dense spines that give it a woolly or fuzzy appearance. Native to the Andes, it’s a slow-growing cactus that can become a unique focal point in your indoor or outdoor cactus collection.
• Light: Prefers bright, direct sunlight. It thrives in full sun and can tolerate intense sunlight if gradually acclimated.
• Water: Water when the soil is completely dry, ensuring that the cactus doesn’t sit in water. During the winter, reduce watering as the plant enters dormancy.
• Soil: Needs well-draining soil, such as a cactus or succulent mix. Ensure your pot has drainage holes to prevent water retention.
• Temperature: Thrives in warm temperatures between 70–90°F. It is sensitive to cold and should be protected from temperatures below 50°F.
• Humidity: Prefers dry air and is well-suited to low-humidity environments, making it ideal for desert-like conditions.

Just picked up a brain cactus from this delightful little shop, and I’m convinced I’ve increased the IQ of my plant collection by at least 40 points. This twisty little genius is the perfect blend of quirky and charming—like if Einstein were a succulent.
